Greek Political Establishment Conspires To Topple Greek Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos

I just received this analysis from late breaking news in the Greek and Greek Cypriot press:

http://www.simerini.com

Conspiracy now: the fall of Papadopoulos

From Athens in order to not get reelected President

An article in the Athenian press claims that the leaders of the effort are

K. Mitsotakis, Dora Bakoyanni, Kostis Stephanopoulos, Kostas Simitis and Yiorgos Papandreou, who tried to get the President of Greece involved.

Two Athenian newspapers, Kathimerini and Paron, are reporting on efforts from Athens to subvert Tassos Papadopoulos because of his positions on the issue of Cyprus and the European Union negotiations with Turkey. According to the two newspapers, matters get really complicated and the issue assumes huge importance because the masterminds of the subversion operation are in the center of the Greek government.

The newspaper Paron names as the masterminds the following: Konstantinos Mitsotakis (former prime minister and honorary president of Nea Demokratia party), his daughter Dora Bakoyanni (foreign minister), Kostis Stephanopoulos (former president of Greece), Kostas Simitis (former prime minister), and Yiorgos Papandreou (president of Pasok). According to the
newspaper Paron, these figures tried to convince the President of Greece Karolos Papoulias to mediate in order to convince Dimitris Christofias to withdraw AKEL's support for Tassos Papadopoulos and to support a different candidate along with DE.SY. for the presidency of the Republic of Cyprus. Kathimerini does not name names, however gives a snap-shot of Mitsotakis and states that Papadopoulos knows who the subverters are.

The report of the newspaper Paron yesterday included the following:

During the recent meeting between K. Papoulias and K. Mitsotakis, the former prime minister tried to convince the President to participate in an operation to subvert Tassos, whom he characterized as an obstacle to options that will get us out of the deadlock in the Cyprus issue.
Specifically, he asked him to mediate in order to convince Christofias to withdraw his support from Tassos Papadopoulos and instead to support along with DE.SY. a different candidate in the coming elections. Stephanopoulos, Dora, Simitis, Yiorgos, Souflias and others are involved in this effort and have been trying to arrange the Papoulias-Mitsotakis meeting for a month”.

Paron also discusses the barrage of press articles and commentary against Tassos Papadopoulos by mass media and journalists in Athens and states that two journalists of a specific radio station in Athens have been hired for this purpose by Dora Bakoyanni. The newspaper Paron reports that Bakoyanni plays along with the Yes block and that certain dangerous views arising
from Athens are found in many Cypriot newspapers.

OUR SERB BROTHER BOBAN IS DEAD!

Farewell Boban
29 Jun 2006 11:46:00

By Ilias Papaioannou

he Greek basketball family is mourning for Boban Jankovic’s death. Panionion’s former ace, who had suffered a shocking injury that left him paralysed some 13 years ago, sustained a heart failure while travelling to the NE Aegean island of Rhodes. Off the coasts of Syros island, Boban felt light-headed before the ship’s doctors had the chance to take some action and passed away. He was then transferred to the island’s hospital, but it was too late. The Ministry of Mercantile Marine announced that he will be autopsied on Thursday, while the Syros Port Police will conduct a preliminary investigation. His remains will be transferred to Athens on Thursday.

For the past 13 years, Boban Jankovic had been battling for his life. It was on April 28, 1993, when Panionios’ former player was charged with a foul during an encounter against Panathinaikos as part of the A1 playoffs series. Really pissed off by the referee's decision, he hit his head against the structure of the basket with unheard-of violence. Everyone in the arena and those watching the game from their houses' living rooms were numbed with shock watching Jankovic falling down and bleeding from his mouth. Lady Luck was rather cruel to him, since it left him stuck to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

I don't have a user name that is why I am anonymous. But reading this article really angers me. The press makes it sound like greece is full of natioanlistic wacko terrorist groups like N17. Where are these guys to take out traitors like Bakoyiannis.

N17 is not a nationalist entity. They are an anarchist group with communist affiliations if anything. Their activities are not motivated by the welfare of Hellas but rather they act as an antagonist of American and other western interests.

If anything, this does more harm for Hellenes than good, in the sense that with punks like that allegedly acting on behalf of the Hellenic people, we can never count on any support from the West, rather we can be sure to be isolated from any potential assistance.

There is no such thing as support from the West. Any "support" Greece has received from the West has been self-serving and surreptitiously subversive. In truth, the best thing to happen to Greece would actually be for the country to become isolated from the West. That way we would gain back our national sovereignty.

As it is always the case , the traitorous vipers are nestling in bossom of the Greek members of government; a nest of vipers.

The patience and forebearance of the Greek electorate to put up and keep voting for the same blood sucking Draculas as their leaders.

As long as our country has politicians from rich families and old political dynasties, and as long as the middle greek citisen continues to vote these persons, they will never stop raping society, our childer and our values using dirtbags as minions and terror bodyguards.....

One of the reasons why Serbia was destroyed was because it was a proud nation, with strong feelings of friendship to the Greeks. They broke them to pieces and then destroyed them....This is what they are doing to us right now...First Cyprus, then Macedonia and Thrace....and so on....

But they are not gonna make it...We survived for thousands of years through worse....we will do the same one more time....

If the Greek secret service was still controlled by patriots they would covertly take out Bakoyiannis and Papandreou. Obviously, their deaths would look natural.

Hellenian I agree with your comment about isolating ourselves, at least socially, culturally, and economically from the destructive and decadent influences of the west.

What I meant is in a political context, if we have groups within our country that constantly antagonize and threaten American and other western interests (with violent acts and chatoci street demonstrations that make all the papers and TV news programs), how does that help our position when we try to sensitize the powers to the provocations of our unfriendly neighbours?

We need to play politics of persuasion, at least pretend we're their friends only to curry favour against our immediate foes. The Greek lobby in the US is so helpless for this very reason, that the American leaders see all the anti-US sentiment in our country (mostly the work of anarchist groups like N17), and say why should we help the Greeks who hate us so much, and do nothing to protect our interests in Greece?

Dear Blogger,

Per the topic of this post...despite the accurate portrayal of Dora, Yorgo, Mitsotakis etc being modern day efilates (traitors)...the article above appears to be nothing more than British propaganda aimed at creating a fresh fissure in Cypriot-Hellenic relations. The Cypriots are well aware of this.

As for sovreignty...Hellas owes nearly 107% of its GDP in debt...Cyprus owes around 36% of her GDP in debt...this is why the Cypriots could say OXI to A(u)nan, and why the Cypriot Secret service could later publish photocopies of the foreign checks made payable to Cypriots supporting the A(u)nan plan.

Lets not only think like romantics, but look at the hard facts as well.
