Vandals Trash Greek Orthodox Church in New York

If this happened to a Jewish or Muslim house of worship,it would instantly become national , if not , international news. Thanks to a Hellenic discussion list, I found this news report, from an obscure local news source:

The vandals first struck early Saturday morning, hurling two rocks at the front of the church at 3573 Bruckner Boulevard. Church president Nick Balidis said the vandals apparently missed their first shot, chipping the church’s brick faηade, but succeeded on their second throw, smashing one of two windows abutting the entranceway.

But at 2 p.m., as soon as Balidis and other church officials stepped away from the church, the vandals struck again, shattering another window and hinting that they had been watching and waiting for an opportune moment.

Anyone with information about the vandalism at the Zoodohos Peghe Greek Orthodox Church can contact the 45th Precinct at (718) 822-5411 or the church’s main office at (646) 423-4039.
