ISLAMABAD, Pakistan June 03, 2006- Pakistan on Saturday banned cinemas from showing "The Da Vinci Code" because it contained what officials called blasphemous material about Jesus.
Although the film has not been screened in any theater in mostly-Muslim Pakistan, authorities decided to ban it out of respect for the feelings of the country's minority Christians.
Earlier this week, Christians staged protests in two Pakistani cities against the movie, demanding a global ban. Christians make up about 3 percent of Pakistan's 150 million people.
The film version of Dan Brown's murder mystery novel is based around the premise that Jesus Christ and one of his followers, Mary Magdalene, had children whose descendants are still alive.
"Islam teaches us to respect all prophets of Allah mighty, and degradation of any prophet is tantamount to defamation of the rest," Minister for Culture Ghulam Jamal was quoted as saying by the Associated Press of Pakistan.
Shahbaz Bhatti, a prominent Christian leader, thanked the country's leadership and said the ban will go a long way to ensuring sectarian harmony.
"The Da Vinci Code is a sacrilegious act in the guise of freedom of expression and fiction," Bhatti said Saturday. "It has hurt the religious sentiments of Christians and Muslims throughout the world."
He also criticized Brown, saying the author had "evil intentions" and wanted "to undermine the historical as well as theological truth about Jesus Christ."

It makes perfect sense from a religious perspective. To Muslims Mahoma and Christ are prophets of God - albeit one above the other in rank, but nevertheless both prophets are emissaries from the divine - and a proffered insult or blasphemy to one of them questions the legitimacy of the other. Therefore questioning the validity of Christ the prophet indirectly casts serious doubts about Mahoma the prophet.
They are not tearing their clothes for Christ but for Mahoma.
The Jewish strategy is clear , pick each of of your opponents single handededly and having dealt with one than move on against the next. Christianity is losing its foothold in its own cradle, the West. In the cradle of christianity and in its bossom nested a snake that sooner or later would bear its fangs and spit its venom, the venom has entered christianity's blood stream. Rob people of their faith, rob a nation of its spiritual essence and religion and you have succeeded in reducing that nation to the level of a sheep. The Jews have succeeded in leeching the West. Fervent christian nations, where strong catholicism - Spain, Italy, France - and where protestantism - Northern countries- flourished and prospered have today been reduced to faithless atheism and the strength of their religion diluted and distorted to a phantom of their former past. Christianity has been replaced by Democracy, socialism , multiculturalism, human rights , worship of sports and entertainment, a religious compost of putrefaction and carbon monoxide.
Once the job is completed the Jews next target would be to replicate it onto the muslims. Their turn will come, or maybe it has already started. The mahoma cartoons may have been an initial salvo, following Rhusdie blasphemious writings 15 years earlier.

A code breaker and scholar will be invited out to investigate a murder. A member of a secret society. Bnthai(whater the spelling is) possibly connected to the illuminati. the victim leaves a copy of Ann frank with some notes. Slowly the mystery unravels. Newspapers from 10 years previous to the holocaust showing and predicting what happens. Clues to the real author of ann frank. And then the shocking ending. a woman emerges her name is Rosa franklin she is 80 years old. The secret is revealed she is the basis of Ann and she lived. We are taling about the greatest cover up in human history. Pretty clever you think the Jews that financed Davinci will finance this?
